The ‘Secret Marathon’ Film
On International Women’s Day watch “The Secret Marathon” Film and meet Martin Parnell.
In 2016 Rotarian Martin Parnell, originally from Devon, covertly entered Afghanistan to enable young women run a marathon. Meet Zainab and her friends, this is their very moving story.
You can watch the 30m adaptation which will be running on a loop all day. The UK premier screening of the full film is being shown on Friday evening 7 March 2025.
Inspired by a story of courage, a filmmaker and her legendary marathon mentor, Rotarian Martin, train and travel in secret to join the brave Afghan women who are standing up for equality and freedom, by running in the Marathon of Afghanistan.
