Tom Robbins

Tom Robbins
My name is Tom Robbins, Friend of the Rotary Club of Redruth, and I am 19 years old. A little side note is that I avidly enjoy history and literature in my studies and spare time.
I first became aware of the Rotary Club when my brother took part in Youth Speaks when I was only 6. Being competitive, a few years later, aged 11, I decided to take part myself and to my surprise ended up winning the District Final in 2016 with my speech entitled “Accents”. After winning I began to help at my primary school to train other students to take part. Those teams also saw success and I was approached by Rotarian Alvine Holmes about adjudicating at the age of 14.
I have continued each year consequently, judging at all levels.
In 2020 I was accepted as a Friend of the Rotary Club by Tony Williams, when he was the President of my local club. I joined the youth committee and helped organise competitions for young people.
Then a year later I became a Camborne Youth Town Councillor and served for two years, giving advice and suggestions to the Council about what could improve the local area for young people, aiding in liaising between the Council and the Rotary Club to strengthen local ties and create more opportunity for youths to help the Rotary in their charitable efforts.
